Gift

A day so happy.
Fog lifted early, I worked in the garden.
Hummingbirds were stopping over honeysuckle flowers.

There was no thing on earth I wanted to possess.
I knew no one worth my envying him.
Whatever evil I had suffered, I forgot.
To think that once I was the same man did not embarrass me.
In my body I felt no pain.
When straightening up, I saw the blue sea and sails.

  1. Nice poem. "To think that once I was the same man did not embarrass me." Sounds as if he's returned from someplace that wasn't him and he's found he's still the same man he was before he went there. I wonder where he went.

    1. Wallowing in the past is futile. He can only build up on the present.

  3. Hi Julia .. great way to celebrate Labour Day your end of the world ... it's a beautifully expressed poem - to remember the day and to be ..

    Cheers Hilary
