"A modern astronomical view says that everything in the universe is moving uniformly away from everything else in all directions into space, so there is no center point in the cosmos at all. We live with no fixed reference point. From one perspective, this understanding produces the desolate feeling that there is no home. But from another perspective, this realization shows us directly that every point is home. We are free; we do not need to fix on a single center for refuge, for safety. This is love, this is happiness, where our refuge is unbounded, and we are always at home."
Sharon Salzberg (From her book "Loving-kindness")

  1. Nice quote! Yes there is no center point in the universe yet every point is home.

    1. I find this fascinating about the universe. There is no center. What a lesson on love and humility!

  2. Julia, this is quite a thought-provoking quote. The first line reminded me of the excellent TV series, Cosmos, by Neil DeGrasse Tyson (which updated the theories of his mentor, the sage visionary, Carl Sagan). The universe is always moving, every changing, and so are we as part of the universe. That our lives have no fixed reference point is remarkable but true. No place is home yet every place is home, “our refuge is unbounded, and we are always at home.” The image you selected is perfect too.

  3. I couldn't comment on your current post, but wanted to say congratulations on having your Superior Medicine story published. A very interesting read - and I'd rather have the onion soup than the jab too!

I appreciate each and every comment. Thank you.
